Investment

Counseling is a major investment in your personal wellness journey, not only financially, but relationally, as well. Our connection within the therapeutic relationship is a huge investment in mutual trust, understanding, and respect. I am committed to providing my clients with the most personalized, private, and flexible treatment options. For this reason, I do not accept health insurance and instead offer a lower private-pay option. Private pay therapy is a great option for clients with high insurance deductibles and/or who don’t want a diagnosis documented on their permanent medical record.

Health insurance companies will often:
-Require a prior authorization from a physician
-Require an official mental health diagnosis, per the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
-Document your diagnosis on your permanent medical record, which may affect future insurance premiums and applying for certain jobs
-Require your therapist to submit case notes on you and your progress, in which case, your confidential information is shared with whoever reviews the notes at the insurance company
-Limit the number of sessions covered
-Prescribe a course of treatment that doesn't necessarily fit your needs
-Restrict your treatment facility options, should you need a higher level of care

-Require you to pay higher out-of-pocket costs before reaching your deductible

A private-pay option eliminates the restrictions listed above and allows us to maintain the most confidential and flexible environment for your individualized care.

I offer lower-cost rates to ensure affordability. If you choose, you may submit a receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement. I also accept Flexible Spending/Health Savings Account debit cards as a form of payment (see below).

A discount rate is available to clients who are 65 and older, active or veteran military personnel, and first-responders (valid ID required). We will discuss payment rates and options in further detail during your initial phone consultation.

Accepted forms of payment include:
-Cash
-Check*
-Debit and Credit Cards**
-Flexible Spending/Health Savings Accounts
(If you do not have a Flexible Spending Debit Card, I will provide you with a receipt that you may submit for reimbursement.***)

*A $25.00 Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) Fee will be applied to any returned check.
**Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are accepted forms of payment.

***Reimbursement is the sole responsibility of the client and proper payment is still due at the time service is rendered.
